About Us
Committed to Energy Security
The Iowa Energy Forum is a growing community of concerned citizens committed to two goals – achieving energy security for our country and holding our elected officials accountable in shaping energy policies. We understand that America will require traditional fossil fuel energy sources (e.g., oil, natural gas, coal) for decades to come, even with the development of renewable energy sources and technologies. So, please join the Iowa Energy Forum to pursue sound, fact-based legislation and solutions that include conservation, renewables and traditional energy sources.
Iowa Energy Facts:
- Iowa is the nation's leading producer of corn and ethanol. Iowa's ethanol production accounts for approximately one-fourth of the nation’s ethanol supply.
- Iowa is one of the nation’s leading wind producers due to the wind power potential harnessed in northwest Iowa.
- Approximately two-thirds of Iowa households use natural gas as their primary home heating fuel.
- Heavy use of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) for agriculture and residential heating contribute to Iowa’s disproportionately high consumption of LPG.
